Here are the 5 Basic tips for students who want to manage their loans without getting in any trouble end of day.

1 – Do not allow your rates of interest to increase. Interest rates of student loans are usually variable and can change annually. Therefore, you should permanently get a lockdown on your rates of interest by getting into consolidation immediately.
2 – Make use of automatic payments. The majority of lenders out there provide reduced rates of interest if your payments in student loans are automatically taken out from your savings or checking account. In the long run, you could save a lot of money this way. Additionally, you will not have to remind yourself to write checks every month and loan payments are sure to be made in a timely basis.

3 – Try very hard not to get behind when it comes to payments. If making your payments for student loans tends to become too troublesome, get into contact with your loan servicer as soon as possible to check if you are eligible for forbearance or deferment. As with other loans, payments on student loans that are made late could affect your overall credit rating.

4 – Pick the ideal option of payment for you. There are several options of payment available to borrowers of student loans that look into consolidation. Payment plans that match your existing financial situation could easily aid in maintaining the loans. You can always switch plans again whenever needed.

5 – Try to get money back from the student loans. Lenders and services will sometimes provide you with incentives in order for you to pay them off on time within a certain time limit. They will then give you money back if you make around ten payments in a row on time.

1 – Basic Computer Safety Maintenance
Before you surf the Web, you should perform three key maintenance steps to help improve the computer’s security. Visit Protect your computer in 4 steps and follow the steps online to:
– Use an Internet firewall.
– Update your computer.
– Use up-to-date antivirus software.
– Use up-to-date antispyware software.

2 – Don’t open files from strangers
E-mail and instant messaging (IM) can spread viruses and worms if you aren’t careful. Most e-mail viruses are spread by people who are tricked into opening an infected file. You should never open a file attached to an e-mail or an instant message unless you recognize the sender and you are expecting the file.

3 – Help fight spam and online scams
You can use technology to help keep junk e-mail from deluging your screen. To see how, read Help keep spam out of your inbox. Phishing is another threat to your privacy that could lead to the theft of your credit card numbers, passwords, account information, or other personal data. To learn more, read Recognize phishing scams and fraudulent e-mails.

4 – Learn how to protect yourself from spyware
If your Web browser has been taken over by pop-up ads, or there are toolbars on your computer that you didn’t download intentionally, your computer might be running spyware. Spyware is software that collects personal information from you without first letting you know what it’s doing, and without asking for your permission.

You might get spyware if you download music or file-sharing programs, free games from sites you don’t trust, or other software programs from a suspicious Web site. If your computer is running Windows Vista you have spyware protection built-in.

5 – Take precautions when you go wireless
Many high school and college campuses have wireless networks, so you can surf the Web in the library, cafeteria, or a classroom. These networks are convenient, but they do come with a security risk. If you set up your own wireless network at home or in your dorm room, read Windows Vista Features Explained: Wireless Networking or Improve the secuirty of your wireless home network with Windows XP and pay special attention to the section on wireless network security. Also read Use public wireless networks more safely to get more tips on WiFi security.

6 – Password protect your computer—and lock it
Passwords are the first line of defense in protecting your computer from criminals, pranksters, or a careless roommate. If you don’t use a password to log on to your computer, anyone can access your computer and unlock it.

Use our tips for building stronger passwords now, and be sure to lock your computer when you’re not using it. To “lock” your Windows computer, hold down “Windows logo key + L.” Follow the instructions on the screen to unlock your computer when you’re ready to use it again.

7 – Back up your work
The image of students losing their term papers because they forgot to back up their work has almost become a cliché. Still, many of us don’t have the time to back up. If you use Windows Vista read Windows Vista Features Explained: Complete PC Backup. If you use Windows XP, you can let the Backup Utility do the work for you. To find out how, read Windows XP Backup Made Easy.
Here are 10 tips to help you create a productive and memorable college experience… and most of all, to deeply enjoy this time in your life.

1. “Why am I going to college?”
Many college students really don’t have a clear reason for Why they are in Colleg?. They inherit goals from family and peers which aren’t truly their own.

2. Visualize your ideal experience at college
Once you know why you’re going to college, imagine your ideal outcome. Whether you have already started college or not, stop and simply write down some attributes of your ideal experience. Describe it in as much detail as you can.

3. Utilize your spare time making each semester more productive
Students are taught that 12-15 semester units (3-5 classes) is a “full” schedule. But a schedule that light is hardly full. A person with a full-time job will put in a 40+ hours/week , and compare to that students enjoy every possible vacation day plus spring break, winter break, and summer vacation. If you want to spend four or more years in college, add more degrees or get a job on the side. Don’t feel you have to go at a snail’s pace just because everyone else does.

4. Set clear goals for each class
Decide what you want out of each specific class. Is this a subject you’re eager to learn? Do you want to target this teacher for a letter of recommendation? Is this a required class you must take but which doesn’t otherwise interest you?

5. Invest energy where it required
You don’t need to put an equal amount of effort into every class. Inject extra effort when it’s important to you, but feel free to back off a little from classes that are a low priority based on your specific goals. For me this was an important way to conserve energy. I couldn’t play full out in every class, or I’d burn out, so I invested my energy where it mattered most.

6. Start early each day
I found that getting an early start each day helped me get a lot more done, not just in the morning but throughout the day. I began each day with a 25-minute run followed by a shower and breakfast. This simple morning routine got me out the door feeling alert and energized.

7. Reclaim wasted time during your classes
Not every class is going to require your utmost concentration. Sometimes teachers babble. Sometimes they reiterate what you already know. What percentage of class time requires your complete, focused attention? For some classes it’s 90%. For others it’s 20%. If you aren’t actively learning during class, you’re wasting time. If a class is really challenging, sit in the front and soak up every word. But if a class isn’t challenging you, then sit in the back, do homework for other classes, and pop your head up every once in a while to see if there’s anything worth jotting down. Always have a book open, so when your hippie professor goes off on yet another nostalgia trip about the 60s, you’ll have something productive to do.

8. Learn material the very first time it’s presented
One of the biggest time wasters in school is having to relearn something you didn’t learn properly the first time. When students say they’re studying, most of the time they’re making up for a previous failure to learn the material.

9. Master advanced memory techniques
One of the keys to learning material the first time it’s taught is to train yourself in advanced memory techniques.

10. Have some serious fun!
Challenge yourself academically, but give yourself plenty of time for fun as well. Don’t squander your leisure time hanging around doing nothing. Go out and do something active that will blow off steam and increase your energy.
